11 For both he that sanctifies and they who are sanctified [are]all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God has given me. I. We will continue to sin unless we do something about itA. Sin is Independence (depend on other than God for power, pleasure, possessions) Romans 6:1-2, 11-13 B. Sin is Deadly (cuts us off from blessing and harms us -Rm 6:23) C. Sin is Deceptive (we're blind to 80% of our faults) II. It is God's will that we be different from the way we wereA. We are to be holy as He is holy (I Peter 2) B. God has made available to us all we need: 1) New nature (free); 2) HS; 3) Truth; 4) Body of Believers III. We are transformed by the renewing of our minds (Rom 12:1-2)A. The Spirit communicates Truth to us to counteract the lies of Satan (See: Lies we Believe that Keep us Bound to Sin) B. The channels of Truth are through the Word and the Body (See: Eph 4:15 Learning, Living and Loving others with the Truth) C. Our mind must first know or understand truth (versus lies) Truth can be blocked by sins of: 1) ignorance; 2) arrogance 3) unrepentance D. We must reckon or believe that what God's said is reality (Truth) and value it E. We must decide to obey the Truth with our wills {Values/Feelings} 1) We must stop what we are currently doing/valuing/believing 2) We must start doing what we should be doing/valuing/believing IV. Why aren't more believers thinking, looking, and acting like Jesus Christ? Where us sanctification most needed? Which of the 3 R’ is most lacking? 2. Are there alternatives to eradicating sin habits other than reprogramming your robot with the Word? If so, are they working for you? 3. Is it easier to be "set free" from self-indulgence or self-centeredness? (Jn 8:32) Which of the 3 R’s is the hardest to face and defeat? 4. At what stage in the process of sanctification would Satan be most likely to thwart your efforts? Are you accountable to anyone for help? 5. How much time have you actually spent seriously reprogramming your robot for holiness? When will you spend the time? |
