REVIEW

A. Revelation 2-3 Summary: I know your

deeds/tribulation-slander/dwelling/love-faith-service; hypocrisy; kept word/name;

(+)you cannot tolerate evil men/teachers, resist satan's agents/attacks x2;

hate deeds arising from false teaching/teachers; not deny;

APP: repent and do; faithful to death; hold fast; wake up-be worthy;

(-) first love; too tolerant; too tolerant; sluggard-incomplete; lukewarm-no needs/deceived

hold fast; buy wisdom, see/, submit/open

Overcomers/Victorious: eat of the Tree of life; crown of life; not hurt by 2nd death; hidden manna/stone; rulership-morning star; no cross out name from Book of Life* but confess name before...; escape-pillar/priesthood; rulership with Christ. Ears to hear (call to Discipleship)

Rev 3:14 To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, {I AM Alpha & Omega, beginning and end 1:8,11; 21:6;22:16}

the Origin/Beginning of the creation of God, says this:

Jn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being; thru Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men

Col 1:16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created thru Him and for Him. 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Cf Heb 1:3

1Cor 8:6 one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist thru Him. Heb 1:3 upholds all things by the word of His power

If anything now exists either: something is eternal or something came from nothing [Universe is not eternal]

(contrary to the Law of Conservation of Energy {and see Einstein E=mc2 and G. Shroeder}) cf DTB Gen 1

Do we live in a material or immaterial universe? Is this sermon/thot matter or non-matter?

15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot.

16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.

(Note: only letter with no commendation!)

Problem: Believers are out of fellowship (have in common) with Christ, and don't know it!

We need to have the Purpose, Obj/Goals, Practices of our daily (24/7) life in sync with the Lord

Lk 6: 45 A good person brings good things out of the good/treasure stored up in their heart, and an evil person brings evil things out of the evil stored up in their heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. NIV

46 Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? cf Mt 7:21 “I don't know you”

47 Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them..48 is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, cz it had been well built.

49 But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like one who built a sand castle

on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it

and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.

Whats your Spiritual Temperature ?

Are you so hot you set others on fire, (or healing waters), {It only takes a spark...}

or so cooling that you refresh the souls of the saints?

Or lukewarm?

Philemon 4 I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers,

5 cz I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus.

6 I pray that your participation/fllshp with us in the faith may become

effective in experiencing/epignosis of all the good things we have in Christ NLT.

7 Your love has given me great joy and encouragement,

cz you have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.

Most believers are Zealous (on fire) for the wrong things

Christianity of convenience: 7/11 church. Not healthy, sustainable, nor satisfying.

We need to be intentional about: loving God, obedience, holiness, blameless in love...

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Js 1:22

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test* yourselves..or fail# 2Cor 13:5 NIV

Stress-Test...prove* yourselves. Do you not know/epignosis, that Jesus Christ is in you?

—unless indeed you are disqualified/unapproved/unfit#. 2Cor 13:5 NKJV

{See Take Heed -below}

A foot in both worlds

Mt 6:23 ...if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other,

or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and...

1Jn 2:15 If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

For everything in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes,

and the pride of life comes not from the Father but from the world. NIV

Heb 6:4 For “It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened,

who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit,

who have tasted the goodness of the word of God

and the powers of the coming age

and who have fallen away,

to be brought back again to repentance.

To their loss, they are crucifying the Son of God all over again

and subjecting Him to public disgrace (see Warning Passages in Hebrews in DTB)

XXX

Lk 11:32 The people of Nineveh will also stand up against this generation on Judgment Day and condemn it, for they repented of their sins at the preaching of Jonah. Now someone greater than Jonah is here—but you refuse to repent. [When we repent {right away}, God relents]

33 No one lights a lamp and then hides it or puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house.

34 Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy* your whole body is filled with light. *573 haploús w/o folds, referring to a single (undivided) focus, ie. w/o a (secret) 'double agenda' which prevents an over-complicated life (becoming needlessly distracted). Mk 4:19 choke

But when it is unhealthy/evil?pain-hardships, your body is filled with darkness.

35 Make sure/scrutinize-aim 6x that the light you think you have is not actually darkness.

36 If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life

will be radiant, as tho a floodlight were filling you with light.

39 Lord said to him: You Pharisees are so careful to clean the outside of the cup/dish, but inside you are filthy—full of extortion and wickedness. 40 Fools!

Rev 3:17 Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,"

(Self-deception from demonic-delusion/self-sufficiency makes believers insensitive to reality and real needs)

and you do not know not sober-minded that you are:

1Cor 15:33 bad company corrupts...34 Sober up/awake to righteous and stop sinning;

for some of you are ignorant of God I say this to your shame

{lit=hold 'not knowledge'/false info-perception 1Pt 2:15=fools}

wretched Rm 7:24 divided-defeated and

miserable 1Cor 15:19 no future hope and

poor Gal 4:9 know God...why do you want to go back again and be slaves again to the weak and beggarly spiritual principles of this world?

blind 2Pt 1:9 lacks these qualities is blind and near-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.

10 brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you {Mt 22:14 20:16}

for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; first-last

11 for in this way the abundant entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus supplied

(Rev 17:14 those who are with Him are the called and chosen/choice and faithful.

naked 2Cor 5:4 having put it on, will not be found naked. 4 we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed,

so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life.

5 Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge/first installment.

Lk 4:17 prophet Isaiah was handed to Him...He opened the book and found the place where it was written:

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, cz He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me

to proclaim release to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed.

Jn 12:35 Jesus said to them, "For a little while longer the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light,

so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes.

36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light.

These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and hid Himself from them.

37 But tho He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him.

38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: "Lord, who has believed our report?

To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 39 For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, 40 "He has blinded their eyes and He hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and perceive with their heart, and be converted and I heal them. 41 Isaiah said cz he saw His glory...spoke of Him

2Cor 4:2 not walking in craftiness or adulterating the Word of God, but by the manifestation of Truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,

4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unfaithful/unbelieving

so that they might not see the light of the gospel/good news of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

5 For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus' sake.

6 For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who

has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

1Jn 2:9 The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now.

10 The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him.

11 But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness,

and does not know where he is going cz the darkness has blinded his eyes. 13...overcome the evil one

Take Heed!

Dt 4:9 Only give heed to/guard yourself and keep/guard your soul m/w/e diligently, so that you do not forget...your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known..10..learn to fear Me all the days..10 commandments..15 So watch yourselves carefully

take good/exceeding heed

Dt 11:16 Beware/on guard that your hearts are not deceived, and that you do not turn away and serve other gods and worship them. 17 Or the anger of the LORD will be kindled against you... and you will perish quickly from the good land which the LORD is giving you. (gift can be revoked!)

We avoid being deceived by being HS led, initiating all our actions from our purpose to glorify God (and be glorifed by Him), and constantly evaluating our decisions & feelings/rcn in light of the Truth

Not Worship as You Please Dt 12:8 You shall not do at all what we are doing here today, every man doing whatever is right in his own eyes 13 Be careful that you do not sacrifice in any place you please NIV 14 but the place which the LORD chooses...there you shall do all that I command you

Ps 39:1 I said, I will guard my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue (toward God and others cf Job)

Ps 119:9 How cleanse way? by taking heed acc to Thy Word. 10 With my whole heart have I sought Thee: let me not wander from Thy commands 11 Thy Word I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee.

Jer 17:21 says LORD: Take heed for yourselves and do not...as I commanded 23 Yet they did not listen or incline their ears, but stiffened their necks in order not to listen or take correction.

24 if you listen attentively to Me..27 if you do not listen to Me to keep..I will kindle unquench fire

Mal 2:16 LORD says “I hate..., for it covers one’s garment with violence/injustice,” says the LORD of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously*”

*unfaithful, untrustworthy, deceptive, disloyal, betrayer, or unreliable; Jdg 9:23 function of evil spirit! cx HS fruit

T 991: 2c) to turn thots or direct the mind to a thing, to consider, contemplate, to look at, to weigh carefully, examine

Mt 24:4 Take heed that no one misleads/deceives you [cultivate deep abiding/sensitive rlshp with HS of Truth]

1Cor 10:12 one thinks they stand take heed that u do not fall. [self-deception thru pride-suseptability to satan]

1Cor 3:10..take heed how you build on foundation (Col 4:17 ministry)...14 reward 15 suffer loss but saved

Heb 2:1 we must pay abundant attention# to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.

Mt 6:1 Beware# of practicing righteousness before men to be noticed by them; or no reward w/ your Father

Heb 12:4 Pursue peace with al, and the sanctification w/o which no one will see the Lord. 15 See to it? that no one falls short of the grace of God; a) that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled;

16 b) that there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal.

17 For you know that even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected,

for he found no place for repentance, tho he sought for it with tears. ?episkopas-bishop Acts 20:28

18 I advise you to buy (at what cost?) from Me:

gold refined by fire so that you may become rich,

and white garments so that you may clothe yourself,

and that the shame* of your nakedness will not be revealed;

and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.

*Php 3:19 Whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly,

and whose glory is in their shame, 152 who mind earthly things. cx Col 3 set affections above

Pay the cost of sacrificing the temporal for the eternal, this world for the next.

Lk 9:22 The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day. 23 And He was saying to them all: If anyone wishes/wills to come after Me, he must a) deny himself, and 2) take up his cross daily and 3) follow Me.

24 For whoever wishes/wills to save/preserve his life will lose it,

but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.

25 For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself?

26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the

Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline;

therefore be zealous and repent.

Js 4:1 Where do quarrels and conflicts come from among you? Do they not come from your passions/desires for pleasure at war within you? 2 You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious/zealous-burning and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have cz you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, cz you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures/lusts {cx. God's}

Repent=decision to change mind (esp values, and what we think about) and actions (envision the new)

Reprove=bring to light with evidence to convict [Disparity 'twn Scripture/what they say} vs what they do]

Jn 3:19 This is the verdict/judgment, that the Light has come into the world,

and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.

20 For everyone who routinely does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light

for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

21 But he who practices the truth comes to the Light,

so that his deeds may be manifested* as having been wrought in God.

*revealed by light done in the sight of God NIV

Mt 18:15 trespass cx you, go reprove him privately: if hear you...you've gained/won your brother

Lk 3:19 Herod reproved by John for Herodias..all the evils 20...locked up John in prison

Jn 3:20; 8:7 sinless cast stone 9...heard it, being reproved/convicted by their own conscience,

Jn 16:8...HS will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

1Cor 14:24 if all prophesy, the unbeliever is reproved of all, he is judged of all:

Eph 5:11 have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Eph 5:13 all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light...make manifest is light.

1Tim 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. Titus 1:9 Holding fast the faithful Word as taught, able by sound instruction to exhort/encourage and to rebuke/convince the speak-againsters #483 Lk 2:34 Jesus 20:27 resur; Ac 13:45 envy, 22:19 Paul, 22 sect; Rm 10:21 disobedient; Ti 2:9 Wally

Titus 1:12 lazy liars...13 Therefore rebuke them sharply/cut, that they may be sound in the faith

Titus 2:14 pure/zealous 15 speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you

think around

2Tim 4:2 Preach the word; ready in/out season; reprove, rebuke, exhort w all patience & instruction

Heb 12:5 have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as children, My son, do not despise (little care/regard) the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked by Him:

Repent=decision to change mind (esp values, and what we think about) and actions (envision the new)

Mt 3:2 Repent for The Kingdom from the HeavenS!!! is at hand/has drawn near pft cf JC and apostles

Lk 3:4 Isaiah: Make ready the way of the Lord, Make His paths straight. 7...warned you to flee from wrath to come? 8 bear fruits in keeping with repentance, don't say Abraham..father 9 axe is at the root; every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire

10 then what shall we do? [Stop living as if this world is all there is; Start living for reward in Kgdm]

2Pt 2:9 Lord is not slow His promise,...but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance 10 Day of the Lord will come like a thief....earth & works will be burned up

11 Since all be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness 12 anticipating/expecting 4328* and earnestly desiring the coming of The Day of God...

14 since you *4328 these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless 15 just as also Paul, acc to the wisdom given him, wrote to you 16 as also in all his letters...

17 knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried/led away by the error of lawewss men and fall from your own steadfastness, 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of JC

Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses

to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down,

especially the sin that so easily trips us up.

And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting/set before him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame.

Now he is seated at the right hand/in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

3 Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.

4 You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin

5 And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as His children?

He said, “My child, don’t make light of/despise the LORD ’s discipline,

and don’t give up when he corrects you.

Heb 12:6 For the LORD disciplines those He loves,

and He punishes/scourges each one He accepts as His child.”

7 As you endure this Divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as His own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?

8 If God doesn’t discipline you as He does all of His children,

it means that you are illegitimate and are not really His children at all.

9 Since we respected our earthly fathers who disciplined us,

shouldn’t we submit even more to the discipline of the Father of our spirits, and live forever?

10 For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how.

But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in His holiness.

Heb 12:11 No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful!

But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of righteousness/right living

for those who are trained in this way.

12 So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.

13 Mark out a straight path for your feet

so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.

14 Work at living in peace with everyone,

and work at living a holy life,

for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.

15 Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God.

Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

16 Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau,

who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal.

17 You know that afterward, when he wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected.

It was too late for repentance, even though he begged with bitter tears.

Heb 12:18 You have not come to a physical mountain,

to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai.

19 For they heard an awesome trumpet blast and a voice so terrible

that they begged God to stop speaking.

20 They staggered back under God’s command/not endure/bear what God commanded

“If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.”

21 Moses himself was so frightened Mt 9:6 at the sight that he said: I am terrified and trembling/quake

22 No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God,

the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering.

23 You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children,

whose names are written/enrolled in heaven.

You have come to God Himself, who is the Judge over all things.

You have come to the spirits of the righteous who have now been made perfect.

Heb 12:24 You have come to Jesus,

the One who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood,

which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.

25 Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking.

For if people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, warns from earth,

we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who warns/speaks to us from heaven!

turn away

Mt 23:28 So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

33 You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of Gehenna? Cf 3:7 flee wrath to come!

26 When God spoke from Mount Sinai His voice shook the earth,

now makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.”

27 This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed,

so that only unshakable things will remain.

28 Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, cautious vase

let us have grace by which please God serving/worship Him with holy fear 5:7 and awe* 1Pt 2:9

29 For our God is a devouring/consuming fire. *feeling of innate moral repugnance to doing a dishonorable act.

and will dine with him,

and he with Me.

Free will=your choice (based upon your values/desires..based upon your experience/consequences)

Reciprocal rlshp – mutuality, abiding in Christ/Vine and His Words abide in you Jn 15

1Jn 1 Fllshp with God (and others) is dependent upon being/walking in light (forgiven & cleansed)
