 Ears to hear (call to Discipleship)

B. The Holy Spirit controlled Church/Body over which Jesus is Head is one where He is worshiped in spirit and Truth.

1. It starts with HS conviction of sin and consequent seeking of solution.

Acts 2:36...know for sure that God has made Him both Lord and Christ--Jesus whom you crucified

37 pierced to the heart, said to Peter and the rest of apostles: Brethren, what shall we do?

38 Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ eis the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of HS

2. It Grows with Obedient Worship (=Response to Revelation Eph 4)

41 those who received his word were baptize; added 3k souls

3. Primacy of Truth: 42a They were Continually Devoting themselves to the Apostles' (HS sanctioned) Teaching (Biblical ldrshp)

Eph 2:19 God's household 20 being built aor pass; Jude 1:20 self pres on  foundation

of the apostles and prophets 4:11 Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,

21 in Whom the whole building, being fitted together 4:16, is growing 4:15 into a holy temple in the Lord,

22 in Whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God by the Spirit.

3:21 to Him be glory in the church

5:24 as the church is subject to Christ

25 Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, cleansing aor ptct her by the washing of water with the Word,

27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless 1:4 in love.

29 nourishes and cherishes, as Christ also does the church, 30 cz we are members of His Body.

4. Acts 42b Fellowship (Eph 4-5), to the Breaking of bread

 (see Passover and Lord's Supper Truthbase.net) and to Prayer (Eph 6 saints)

43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe;

44  all those who had believed were together 45 sharing acc need.

46 Day by day continuing with one mind/accord/passion

          (1:14; 2:1; 4:24; 5:12; 15:25; Rm 15:6; 1Cor 1:10)

in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart,

47 praising God and having favor with all the people. The Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Fellowship (in common) Eph 4:1 walk in a manner worthy of calling 2 with all humility and meekness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, 3 being diligent to preserve the unity of HS in the bond of peace. 4 There is one Body and one Spirit...were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father...

7 But to each one of us grace was given...

12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the Body of Christ;

13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith,

14 As a result, not tossed...by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;

15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him Who is the Head, even Christ,

16 from Whom the whole Body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, acc to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the Body for the building up of itself in love.

22 put off...lusts/desires of deceit,

23 renewed in the spirit of your mind,

24 put on the new created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

25 laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. overviewbible.com/one-another-infographic/

Acts 20:24 (to Ephesian elders) But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself,           so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.

25...I know that all of you, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will no longer see my face. 26 I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.

28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the HS has made you overseers, to shepherd (protect & provide/guide to food) the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

29 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you,not sparing the flock 30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

31 be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears. 32 now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up & to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

1Tim 1:2 To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 3 I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach different doctrines 6:3,

4 nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration/rule of God which is by faith.

5 But goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

6 For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless/vain discussion,

7 wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying nor the matters about which they make confident assertions

2Tim 3:1 But realize this, that in the last days dangerous/perilous demonic Mt 8:28  times will come.

 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful/pretenders Rm 1:3,   arrogant cx Phil 2:3,   revilers/slanderers, disobedient to parents Ti 3:3 deceived Heb 13:17, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable-appeasable/truce-covenant avoiders-breakers/unforgiving, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal/untamed, despisers of good, 4 treacherous, head-strong, conceited/puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

                          WH: properly, to blow smoke, cloud up the air; (figuratively) having a cloudy (muddled) mind-set,

                           i.e. moral blindness  resulting from poor judgment which brings further loss of spiritual perception

5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

2Tim 3:6 For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith. 9...their folly will be exposed

10 Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance,

11 persecutions, and sufferings...what persecutions I enduredout of them all the Lord rescued me!

12 Indeed, all who desire to live godly in union w/ Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

13 But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

2Tim 3:14 You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of,                             knowing from whom you have learned them,

15 and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation thru faith which is in Christ Jesus

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness 17 so that man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work

 2Tim 4:1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus,

          who is to judge the living and the dead,

          and by His appearing and His kingdom:

2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season;

         reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience/long-suffering and instruction.

 2Tim 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in acc to their own desires/lusts,

and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

5 But you, be sound-minded in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist Eph 4:11 2=1 mature/complete man  DTB, fulfill your ministry 1Tim 4:14

6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;

8 in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.

1Tim 3:8 Deacons likewise must be venerable, not double-tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of shameful gain,9 but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience

10 first be tested; then let them serve as deacons if they are beyond reproach

 11 Women likewise be venerable, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things

 Titus 1:1 Paul, bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen/choice of God and the epi-knowledge of the truth which is acc to godliness,

2 epi/based upon the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,

3 but at the proper time manifested, even His word, in the proclamation with which I was           entrusted acc to the commandment of God our Savior, Acts 26:16

4 To Titus, my true child in a common faith:

 Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

5 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you,

8...hospitable, loving what is good, sound-minded, just/righteous,  devout, mastered from within/self-controlled,

9 holding fast the faithful word which is in acc with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who speak against

10 For there are many rebellious/unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers...

11      must be silenced cz they are subverting/overturning whole families,teaching things should not teach for the sake of dishonorable gain (PPP)

C. Rev 2:1 Jesus' Judgment of His Body

          To the angel/messenger of the church in Ephesus write:

The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand,

 the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands, says this:

2 I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance,

and that you cannot tolerate evil men,

and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles and they are not, and you found them to be false; cf Jude series;  Acts 20:32 wolves within and without

and you have perseverance and have endured for My name's sake (loyalty=love), and have not grown weary.

But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

(Eph 1:4 blameless in love;

15 love for all the saints;

3:17 rooted in love to grasp with saints the love of Christ in order to be filled so God is glorified in church -3:21);

4:2 forbearing one another in love (to keep unity of the Spirit);

15 speaking truth in love;

16 edify Body in love;

5:1 imitate God 2 walk in love, as Christ loved you;

25 love-sanctify;

28,33 H&W love as self;

6:23 love w/faith; 24 love the Lord)

Mt 24:6 hearing of wars, rumors of wars.

See that you are not frightened, must take place...not yet the end

kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.

9 they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you,

and you will be hated by all nations cz of My name.

10 At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another.

11 Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many.

12 cz lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold.

Rev 2:5  Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first;

or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place--unless you repent. (40 yrs)

Yet this you do have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans ('conquer/swallow laity' cf Balaam 2:14-15 ) which I also hate.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

To him who overcomes/victorious,I will grant to eat of the tree of life* which is in the Paradise of God.

*Wiki: The origin of the heavenly Book of Life must be sought in Babylonia, where legends speak of the Tablets of Destinyand of tablets containing the transgressions, sins, wrongdoings, curses...of a person who should be "cast into the water"; that is, blotted out.

 The living are the righteous, who alone are admitted to citizenship in the theocracy, while the  wicked  are denied membership and blotted out of God's book (Ex 32:32-33!).

The life in which the righteous participate...temporal life?? is apparently prayed for in the liturgical formula: "Inscribe us in the Book of Life”

cf  Jude 13: Lunatic Lrdshp Pt 5 Bk of Life;  Ps 69:28 1Chron 29:11 gold Col 2:14 debt
