Jude 11d Korah - Rebellion against God's Authority Part 3

2019 WF Cobb Truthbase.net  DailyTruthbase.blogspot

V. God acts on behalf of His faithful humble servants (not my will, but Thine) cx the disobedient religious

VI. Immature and deceived believers lack discernment and are blinded to both their own sin and reality

APP: Ignorance is no excuse 'cse the HS works to convict of sin/right/judge & to guide in all truth -Phil 2:13.  Are you conscious of God's pleasure? Self-reflection (why conseq?); test for truth cf Bible.  Blinded by guilt,we/blame to preserve our fragile/fractured ego.self worth

VII. Servant leaders suffering abuse, must still seek the best interest of the stupid sheep who continually rebel

APP: If we don't work to develop discernment (Proverbs), by default we're deceived. Oral tradition doesn't transform nor renew minds Rm 12. The herd is headed to slaughter. The Broadway goes downhill to hell; a narrow stairway goes to heaven. Mt 7 :14 only a few find it.

VIII. Leaders are authenticated by both their character and bearing supernatural fruit (God's power/grace) [worth/value]

17:2 "Speak to the children of Israel, and get from them a rod from each father's house, all their leaders according to their fathers' houses --- twelve rods. Write each man's name on his rod. 5 And it shall be that the rod of the man whom I choose will bud; thus I will rid Myself of the complaints of the children of Israel, which they make against you." 7 And Moses placed the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness. 8 next day that Moses went into the tabernacle of witness, and behold, the rod of Aaron, of the house of Levi, had sprouted and put forth buds, had produced blossoms and yielded ripe almonds. 10 And the LORD said to Moses, "Bring Aaron's rod back before the Testimony, to be kept as a sign against the rebels, that you may put their complaints away from Me, lest they die."11 Thus did Moses; just as the LORD had commanded him, so he did.

APP  focus on process of abiding faithfulness for fruitfulness  Jn 15; 2Tim 3::13-4:8

IX. God raises up and establishes leadership for the benefit of His people to make them holy and blessable  cf  Eph 4

Num 17:12 So the children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, "Surely we die, we perish, we all perish! 13 Whoever even comes near the tabernacle of the LORD must die. Shall we all utterly die?" 19:19 The clean person shall sprinkle the unclean 20 But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person shall be cut off from among the assembly

APP People can fear God but not love/serve Him due to ingratitude and lack of faith/faithfulness re His Word Heb 4:12

X. Godly leaders (know-do) Aspire to serve God and others Authentically & Sacrificially like Christ

A. Moses  Acts 7:24 came into his heart to visit his brethren 25 he supposed...understood that God would deliver them by his hand, but...

Nehemiah - Ezra 7:9 good hand of his God upon him. 10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of  LORD, and to do it, and to teach...

1Tim 3:1 faithful saying: If a man desires the position of an  overseer, he desires a good work. 2 A bishop must be blameless/unindictable

Js 3:1My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

B. Paul's comMission   Acts 26:18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'

2Cor 10:8  boast somewhat more about our authority, which the Lord gave us for edification and not for your destruction...

2Tim 2:2 what you heard from me in the presence of witnesses, commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also  Mt 28:19-20

Titus 1:5 I left you in Crete, to set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you -

C. Gladden Soul Guardians Heb 13:7 Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the end/exit of their way of life. 17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

Mt 16:22  Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

25 For whoever desires to save his life/soul will lose it, but whoever loses his life/soul for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses/damage/suffer loss to his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each acc to his works.

JFB (Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown) "Remember" your deceased rulers (Heb 13:7). "Obey" your living rulers; nay, more, not only obey in cases where no sacrifice of self is required, and where you are persuaded they are right (so the Greek, for "obey"), but "submit yourselves" as a matter of dutiful yielding, when your judgment and natural will incline you in an opposite direction.

D. Secure Submission 1Pt 5:1 (cf Acts 20) elders 22 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; 3 nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; 4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.  5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble" 6 humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing...

Eph 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Js 4:7 Submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee

1Cor 16:15 know/pay attention...they devoted themselves to the ministry/service of the saints 16  you also submit to such...work and labor with us.

1Th 5:12  know them who labor among you, are over you in the Lord, and admonish you 13 esteem them very highly in love for their works sake

APP Do you see the connection between submission to God and submission to His authorities or subjugation to satan?  Who rules over u?

What values (and other things) help you draw on God's grace/protection as you trust Him to bring about your best possible life?
