Jude 16 Enoch Convicts DisContented UnGodly Complainers

(c)2019 WF Cobb Truthbase.net  DailyTruthbase.blogspot

14 Enoch: Lord comes 15 execute judgment on all,  to convict all who are ungodly...words ungodly sinners have spoken against Him 16 These are grumblers, complainers, walking acc to their own lusts; and they speak swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.

(III.) The Ungodly don't Know nor Do what God requires Jn 8:31 does His will, and will suffer just recompense/punishment Lk 12

(IV.) The Ungodly seek to destroy the Godly and God's work/reputation with their demonic lying words

I. We grumble/complain when we don't have/can't get what we desire/think we need for our happiness/contentment since God's not sufficient

Our discontentment arises from a flawed rlshp with the True Vine (we're not plugged into Him for motivation and strength) and a distorted perception of reality (corrected by the embracing and affirming the applicable Truth – ie lack of X vs God provides everything I need to do His will). Note the connection 'twn what we grumble about, and why (we value the wrong stuff and see/think incorrectly/wrongly).

A. We complain against (fate/circumstances): God's goodness, sovereignty, justness = rebellion cx Lordship because we don't like/value (wrong values) what He does, and thus don't trust Him=Rm 8:28 (no submit=rebellion K-Barnea; jump off easel)

Lack of contentment (trust in sovereignty) due to lack of godliness (right values) leads to loss and destruction, ie, not getting what you really want. Is the apple/fruit worth it lifetime of disappointment/pain (not satisfy) Why long for forbidden? (satan-due to lack of submission)

Ps 106:24 Despised pleasant land cf Eve; did not believe His word  5 but murmured in their tents, and did not obey voice of the LORD 6 So...

1Cor 10:10 nor complain, as some of them complained and were destroyed 11 written for our admonition 12 take heed lest you fall

B. What we grumble about: circumstances (cx Israel in wilderness with Joseph/Paul in prison); lack of blessing/fruitfulness; disappointments; pain/loss; lack of support/acceptance (even when we're doing wrong); not being/feeling loved/respected/valued (even when we are not being HS led in the perfect will of God, ie=sinning); we expect others to embrace our stds rather than God's (being deceived); discomfort of change; consequences of sin;  stress caused by pursuing our own agenda rather than God's (calm abiding sheep).

Jesus Jn 6:41  The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

God Num 14:27 evil congregation who complain against Me? 29 carcasses of you who have complained cx Me shall fall in this wild

Leaders Num 17:5 rod ...blossom; thus I will rid Myself of the complaints of children of Israel, which they make cx you

Others Grumble/complain/criticize Mk 7:2 when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled-unwashed hands, they found fault

APP: Corrective is to value what God values, so He gives what's best when it's best. Embrace the relevant truth. Ps 84:11

Mt 12:36 But I say to you that for every idle/unprofitable word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment

Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt/worthless word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification 4:16, that it may impart-minister grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be benevolent to one another, tenderhearted/compassionate, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. Offenses: teach encourage reprove rebuke reject Mt 18 et al

III. Contentment is realizing (believing) that God has already provided everything we need for our present happiness. -Bill Gothard 2Cor 9:8

A. Contentment = satisfaction with circumstances at the present, knowing that:  God has allowed it for your highest good Rm 8:28 (character which yields blessing now and future).  Rm 5:3 glory in tribulation knowing... Js 1:2-4 count it all joy knowing...

God can change it or give grace to endure it. (will always have all I need to do God's will, just have to figure out what His will is (abiding)

APP: Phil 2:14 do ALL things without complaining and disputing/doubting 1Tim 2:8 15 that you may become blameless and pure- unmixed, children of God w/o fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

B. We walk acc to our lusts/desires, vs God's desires for us (faith, hope, love, holiness/godliness, blessable?happy contented sheep Ps 23)

1Tim 6:6 godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 nothing into/out  8 food and clothing..be content...9 desire...temptation..snare...foolish and harmful lusts...destruction-perdition. 10 love of  X root of all kinds of evil... strayed from faith in greediness/more, pierced self  w/ many sorrows

APP: Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don’t have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless chasing the wind  Ecc 6:9 NLT

C. Learn Contentment Phil 4:11 I don't speak re: need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: everywhere and in all things I've learned to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do ALL things thru Christ who strengthens me

2Cor 9:8 God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in ALL things, may have an abundance for every good work (Secret to getting more grace is submission– humbly embracing God's will in holy devotion and trust)

Js 4:6 God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil 8 Draw near to God...Cleanse your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, you double-minded.10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up

1Tim 6:6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall (choice?) be content.

APP: Can you live a godly, blameless life w/o getting what you want? Have you sacrificed your desires to experience His perfect will? Rm 12
