(“HARK how all the Welkin rings,

Glory to the King of Kings.”)

Hark! The herald angels sing,
“Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!”
Joyful, all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th’angelic host proclaim,
“Christ is born in Bethlehem!”

Christ, by highest Heav’n adored;
Christ the everlasting Lord;
Late in time, behold Him come,
Offspring of a virgin’s womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail th’incarnate Deity,
Pleased with us in flesh to dwell,
Jesus our Emmanuel.

Hail the heav’nly Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Ris’n with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by,
Born that man no more may die.
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.

Come, Desire of nations, come,
Fix in us Thy humble home;
Rise, the woman’s conqu’ring Seed,
Bruise in us the serpent’s head.
Now display Thy saving power,
Ruined nature now restore;
Now in mystic union join
Thine to ours, and ours to Thine.

Adam’s likeness, Lord, efface,
Stamp Thine image in its place:
Second Adam from above,
Reinstate us in Thy love.
Let us Thee, though lost, regain,
Thee, the Life, the inner man:
O, to all Thyself impart,
Formed in each believing heart.

Rev 17:14 "These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, choice, and faithful."

Col 1:19  For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell,  20  and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him...having made peace through the blood of His cross.
21  And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22  in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight---23  if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast...hope

2Cor 5:19  that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 21  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Gal 4:4 when the fullness of the time had come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
Mt 1:22  So all this was done that it might be fulfilled...23 "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel," which is translated "God with us sa 7.14

Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6  who, being in the form of God, did not consider equality with God...grasped 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a servant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Mal 4:1  "For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. and the day which is coming shall burn them up," Says the LORD of hosts, "That will leave them neither root nor branch. 2  But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves. 3  You shall trample the wicked,...4 "Remember the Law of Moses, My servant...
Rev 21:23 The city had no need of the sun... or the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light

Jn 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26  "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"3:16

Haggai 2:4... be strong, all you people of the land,' says the LORD, `and work; for I am with you,' says the LORD of hosts. 5 According to the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remains among you; do not fear!' 7 `and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,' says the LORD of hosts. 9 The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,' says the LORD of hosts. `And in this place I will give peace'

1Jn 3:8  He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
Gen 3:15 He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."  Rm 16:20  And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is t.hat good and acceptable and perfect will of God.    Col 3:10  and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

2Pt 1:2  Grace and peace be multiplied to you by the knowledge of God...3  as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4  by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature 5 giving all diligence, add to your faith...

1Th 2:13 you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe

Questions for Reflection/Discussion/Response:

  1. Why does our culture tend to view Jesus as the helpless babe, or powerless crucified, and not as the conquering ruling and restoring King?
  2. If God desires all to be reconciled with Him (1Tim 2:4) why do some refuse or reject a relationship with Him?
  3. Is being Christlike automatic? If not, what to believers have to do to be restored and partakers of the Divine nature?
  4. Why do most hymns and Christians place more emphasis on the birth or beginning of reconciliation than the more Biblical effects of  renewal?
  5. Hark! What can you do in the upcoming weeks to further Christ's purposes in coming to earth?
