Gen 15 Why were Jews chosen for holy Blessing & unholy Cursing? Pt 1

 I. Background: God was grieved with man's sinfulness, and idolatry, so He chose one man, Abram to be holy, and thru him bless the world.

Gen 6:6 LORD was sorry that He had made man...He was grieved in His heart 8 But Noah found favor/grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Gen 11:4 Come, let us build ourselves a city & a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered 9 Babel, 'se LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

Gen 12:1 Get out of your country, from your family and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. 3  I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed 4 Abram (75) departed as the LORD had spoken

Gen 15:5 count the stars if you are able to number them...So shall your descendants be. 6 And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness13 Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them 400 years. 14 And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. 16 But in the 4th generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete. 18 On the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying: "To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates

Dt 1:8 See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers --- to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob --- to give to them and their descendants after them.'  10 LORD your God has multiplied you, as the stars of heaven in multitude. 11 May the LORD God of your fathers make you a 1000 times more numerous than you are, and bless you as He has promised you!

II. Despite their disobedience, God  preserves Israel because His purposes to bless are not thwarted by their disobedience (Rm 9-11)

Amos 3:1 Hear this word the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying: 2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities

Rm 9:4...Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; 5 of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.

III. Individual Jews (Christians) are only blessed/live if they are righteous and loyal to God, otherwise they are cursed/die-lose dominion

Dt 30:15 life/good, death/evil, 16 command u to love YHWH your God, to walk in His ways, & keep His commands...may live and multiply; YHWH bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17 heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them 18 surely perish-not prolong your days in the land 19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, you/descendants may live 20 that you may love YHWH your God, obey His voice, cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days;  you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them."

Rm 11:17 Gentiles grafted in among them, &  with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree 20 'cse of unbelief they were broken off, & you stand by faith. Do not be haughty but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. 22 consider goodness/severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off 23 they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.

Dt 8:17 then you say in your heart, 'My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.' 18 And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, 19 if you by any means forget the LORD your God, follow other gods, serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish. 20 As the nations which the LORD destroys before you, so you shall perish, because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God

Dt 9:4 Do not think in your heart, YHWH has cast them out before you, 'Because of my righteousness  YHWH has brought me in to possess this land'; but it is 'cse of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is driving them out from before you. 5 It is not 'cse of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you go in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD your God drives them out from before you, and that He may fulfill the word which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 6 understand that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land 'cs of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people. 7 Remember! Do not forget how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you departed from the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD. 8 Also in Horeb you provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry enough with you to have destroyed you.

(Christians) 1Cor 10:3 baptized into Moses in the cloud and the sea 4 all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. 6 our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. 11 and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

Dt 29:9 Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do. 18 so that there may not be among you  whose heart turns away today from YHWH to go and serve the gods of these nations, and that there may not be among you a root bearing bitterness or wormwood; 19 and so it may not happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, 'I shall have peace, even though I follow the dictates of my heart'  20 The LORD would not spare him; for then the anger of LORD and His jealousy would burn cx that man, and every curse that is written in this book would settle on him, and LORD would blot out his name from under heaven. 21 YHWH would separate him from all the tribes of Israel for adversity, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this Bk of the Law,

Heb 12:15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled
